We have tradition already for some 7 or 8 years to participate in real
hunting in real forest in autumn. The event is not obligatory for our
Kiwanis people but rather like voluntary mode to spend whole day in fresh
air, in our homeland nature and in forest. The colours of trees in forest
and colours of fields on landscape are very various and beautiful. The event
starts already at 8 in the morning and will be over around 5 or 6 at
evening. Usually the hunting itself lasts till 3 o'clock. Then hunters have
laid the table for Kiwanis people with delicious soup and dish made of meat
of caught animals. All this "after party" is also served in outdoor
conditions nearby the hunters-house inside the deep fir-tree forest. The
feeling there at table after tiring day is really unforgettable. Number of
people who would like to participate in that Kiwanis day is getting bigger
by every year. Role of kiwanians is to help local hunters to achieve the set
up purposes. Kiwanians are without any guns or fire-arms and act more or
less like herd of dogs to direct animals to needed direction. The hunting
object is usually an elk. Big elk can weigh up to 300 - 400 kg. There will
be hunted about 25 elks in forests around our town during season from
September to December. The hunting day for kiwanians will be Saturday 11. of
October on this year. The day starts at 8:00. People are already preparing
to that day and matching their little plans.

On our last club meeting were reached to the idea to send invitation to
Iceland Kiwanians using Your contacts there. To invite possible interesting
people from Iceland to visit and participate in this described Kiwanis
Outdoor Event on Saturday 03. of October. It would be very exotic for
Iceland people, because all day will be spent in real deep forests. And the
elk is rather big animal if to compare to animals on Iceland except the
whale, what actually do not live in forests. But You do not have big forests
also there on Iceland!!!
